Sara Howell

Sara Howell began employment with the Worcester County Health Department in 2006 when she accepted employment through ManyCorp. Currently, Sara is a case manager extraordinaire but is known for her passion, expertise and relentless persistence in advocating for her clients. Sara has spent a great deal of time assisting inmates with after-care planning at the Worcester County Detention Center through a Re-Entry and Recovery program. At the same time, she is the primary liaison between Atlantic General Hospital and the Health Department. These two roles, working with partners who had recidivism rates for similar clientele, catapulted Sara’s work with outside agencies. She saw the importance of relationships and often took matters into her own hands, leaping hurdles and defeating barriers by creating and maintaining contacts throughout the community. Sara was a founding member of our local Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) and led a previously unaffiliated group of individuals to do street outreach. Her involvement left no stone unturned and created new partnerships. Sara is a certified Peer Support Supervisor and has a history of being an integral partner in many other programs, including an after school group for high risk boys, Play It Safe activities, and the Worcester County Youth Council. Sara is a strong advocate for adults with behavioral health disorders and has won numerous awards locally and statewide through MD Dept. of Health for her efforts to reduce stigma and assist with the opioid crisis.
